WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Legoland Florida is set to elevate the thrill of amusement with its latest addition, the Galacticoaster, an innovative indoor family coaster that promises to let visitors embark on a personalized interstellar adventure. This exciting new ride allows guests to craft and navigate their own LEGO spacecraft, blending creativity with exhilaration.

Slated to open on Friday, the Galacticoaster introduces a captivating space-themed LEGO Galaxy, sprawling over an impressive 30,000 square feet and towering more than 50 feet within the heart of the main park. This ambitious ride is being hailed as Legoland Florida’s most technically sophisticated project to date. It features approximately 1,400 to 1,500 feet of track, meticulously supported by around 120 columns and constructed from 48 distinct track sections.

This marks a significant milestone for the resort, as it is the first indoor coaster to be constructed since Legoland Florida opened its doors in 2011. The ride is not only a testament to engineering prowess but also a celebration of the playful learning ethos that defines the LEGO brand.

Fiona Eastwood, CEO of Merlin Entertainments, expressed the unique charm of this venture, stating, “What makes Legoland and LEGO so unique is that playful learning and learning through playing. Every family can design their own rollercoaster before they ride it. They then can see it when they ride and then they’re launched into space, and then they see it again at the end.”

Guests begin in a mission briefing theater featuring a show-controlled animatronic character “Biff Dipper” and a brick-built globe in the queue, then board upscale ride vehicles developed with Merlin Magic Making and the Lego Group.

The experience blends nostalgia and new immersive storytelling, showcasing classic 1970s spaceman minifigures alongside modern space sets.

The event included a nationwide search that selected children to be among the first riders. Merlin said the Junior Galaxy Explorers winners were chosen in both Florida and California as part of the promotion tied to the attraction’s debut.

Not only is Galacticoaster the only roller coaster set to launch in Florida this year, but Eastwood noted it also connects to Florida’s Space Coast and NASA’s initiative to return humans to the moon.

“Because of Artemis, it makes it a real cultural moment that we connect to, which is incredibly exciting. So just as the families are looking at that from this market, we’re then able to allow them to experience going into Lego Galaxy.”
