CHICAGO (WLS) — The suspect accused of fatally shooting a father and son outside their jewelry store on the Southwest Side last November is set to appear in court on Friday morning.

The victims, 63-year-old Faustino Alamo Dominguez and his 25-year-old son Luis Alamo, were tragically gunned down near 5:45 p.m. on November 8 in the Little Village area, specifically in the 3800 block of 26th Street.

Community members recount that the duo was attempting to defend their establishment, Joyeria Angelos, during the incident. The surveillance footage from that fateful evening continues to haunt their family and friends.

“We were pleading, we were literally praying for justice because this is a catastrophic loss, not just for our family but for the entire community,” expressed Agustin Alamo, a nephew and cousin of the victims. “My uncle and cousin were truly pillars in Little Village.”

Then, the suspect pulls out a gun and kills them.

Muhammad Thomas, 35, was arrested in St. Louis and charged in the murders.

He is also charged in connection with two other previous crimes, including a shooting that seriously injured a 26-year-old man in 2023 and an armed robbery in 2024.

Agustin told ABC7 that he feels a sense of relief that someone is behind bars for the killings, and he grateful for the community’s support over these very difficult months.

“We just wanna say, ‘Thank you,’ from the bottom of our hearts. We want to say ‘Thank you, thank you so much for all the love all the support, all the encouragement,’ because again, these months haven’t been easy for us as a family,” he said. “And justice will be served.”

Thomas has been extradited to Chicago and is expected to appear at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse later Friday.
