ORLANDO, Fla. – Given the prolonged dry spell in the area, any precipitation is indeed welcomed.
An approaching cold front is set to increase the likelihood of rain from Friday into early Saturday, bringing with it occasional heavy showers.
While the threat of widespread flooding remains low due to the parched state of the soil and vegetation, some minor water accumulation might occur in low-lying or inadequately drained regions during intense rain episodes.
Nighttime temperatures are expected to be mild, hovering between the 50s and 60s. Winds will remain brisk, particularly along the coast, where gusts could reach up to 25 to 30 mph through Saturday.
Rain showers might persist into Saturday morning with a chance of isolated heavy downpours, followed by a brief pause. The day will remain mostly cloudy and windy, with temperatures rising into the 70s. As the front moves away and sea breezes develop, a few more showers and storms may emerge.
There is a Marginal Risk for parts of Brevard and Osceola counties on Saturday. A few storms could turn strong to severe, bringing gusty winds up to 50 mph, heavy rain, frequent lightning, and small hail. The tornado threat remains low, but not zero.
Looking ahead, drier air returns next week, and temperatures rebound back into the 80s.
