Shanna Moakler, the former spouse of Travis Barker, has opened up about her views on the Kardashian family.
During an appearance on Brittany Cartwright’s podcast, When Reality Hits, on Friday, February 27, the 50-year-old ex-Miss New York discussed her co-parenting dynamics with Kourtney Kardashian, who is married to the Blink-182 drummer.
“There was a time when I felt things were not handled respectfully,” Moakler admitted. The model shares two children, son Landon, 22, and daughter Alabama, 20, with Barker, also 50. “I thought, ‘If I were in your shoes, some of the things you’re doing with my kids wouldn’t fly with me.’”
She added, “I believe certain boundaries were overstepped. But it is what it is, and I think we’ve all moved past it now.”
Moakler, who was married to Barker from 2004 until 2008, also mentioned she doesn’t keep in contact with the Kardashian family, stating bluntly, “I don’t like that family.”
While Moakler and Kourtney, 46, don’t communicate directly, she explained, “there’s been times where one of my children may have had something going on in their lives where I know Kourtney’s been in the room when we’re all trying to guide or help one of my kids.”
However, Moakler said, “nothing’s impossible” when looking to the future.
“You never know, maybe she and I will go to lunch one day…and just have some sort of common respect for one another,” she remarked.
Later in the episode, Moakler discussed the rumors that Barker allegedly cheated on her with Kourtney’s sister, Kim Kardashian, during their marriage.
“I had gotten texts from an anonymous number that Travis and Kim were having an inappropriate relationship,” Moakler claimed. “I divorced for that reason.”
Moakler noted that the complicated history she has with the family has played a role in today’s dynamics.
“I just think if certain things like that didn’t happen in the past, it maybe wouldn’t have made the transition into this new family and marriage so complicated,” she shared.
Kourtney and Barker tied the knot in 2022 and welcomed son Rocky in 2023.
