A Long Island man, Jeremy Allen, age 44, received a life sentence without the possibility of parole on Thursday for the harrowing murder and torture of his lifelong friend, Christopher Hahn, who was 43 at the time of his death.
Allen’s conviction for murder and evidence tampering was handed down in January, as reported by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. The case has drawn significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the betrayal of trust involved.
“Christopher Hahn’s life was tragically ended by someone he trusted,” stated District Attorney Raymond Tierney. “Given the severity of the torture inflicted, a life sentence without parole is the only fitting punishment.”
During the trial, evidence revealed that the two friends, who had known each other since their high school days, spent the evening of September 27, 2024, at a bar before heading back to Allen’s residence in East Quogue. Shortly after midnight, Allen launched a vicious attack on Hahn, beating him for nearly 20 minutes. This violent act was captured by Allen’s own outdoor security camera.
The footage depicted Allen dragging a battered and barely conscious Hahn onto the back deck. Hahn, severely injured and unable to stand, was then subjected to further violence as Allen struck him with a baseball bat. Allen left the scene, only to return with a plastic bag, which he placed over Hahn’s head, securing it with a loose knot, sealing his friend’s tragic fate.
Then he sat in a chair and watched his former friend for nearly 10 minutes before retrieving a large knife and “slowly” stabbing the victim in the neck 10 times. And then, he stood over Hahn and watched him take his last breath.
The entire ordeal lasted six hours. At one point, Law&Crime reported, he was heard telling Hahn, “Die. It’s not so hard. Just die.”
After Hahn died, Allen covered him with a blanket and tried to clean up. He further called his handman to help him clean up, telling him he couldn’t leave the home after he saw the blood and Hahn’s body. Somehow, the handyman persuaded him to let him leave, and the fled the home and called police, who arrested Allen not long after.
