At Dubai International Airport (DXB), which annually serves approximately 95 million travelers, including those flying with Emirates to and from Australia, four individuals sustained injuries. The airport typically manages around 300,000 passengers each day.
Photos from the scene reveal plumes of smoke or dust and scattered debris on the ground.
According to a spokesperson for Dubai Airports, “Emergency response teams were swiftly dispatched and are handling the situation alongside relevant authorities.”
“Four staff members were injured and quickly received medical care. Thanks to contingency plans, most terminals had already been evacuated of passengers.”
In a related incident at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, a neighboring emirate, a drone interception resulted in the death of an Asian national and injuries to seven others.
It’s also a major international hub including for flights from Australia with Etihad.
