BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The inaugural Bristol Brick Convention drew LEGO enthusiasts to Bristol Motor Speedway this past Saturday for an event dedicated to the art of LEGO building.

This convention showcased a world of LEGO creativity, featuring everything from intricate displays and mosaics to talented artists and builders. Special guests from the popular TV series ‘Lego Masters’ also made appearances, adding excitement to the event.

Jeremy Douma, who manages the Brick Convention, highlighted the engaging activities available for children. “We have an event where Tim, our master builder, hosts a fun building challenge with the kids,” he explained. “There’s also a build-a-city area where participants can contribute by creating vehicles or structures to expand our city. Additionally, our brick pits allow children the freedom to construct anything they can imagine.”

LEGO artist Amado Pinlac shared his perspective, noting that LEGOs are a rare find in his homeland, the Philippines.

Amado Pinlac, a LEGO artist at the convention, said that where he is from in the Philippines, LEGOs are hard to come by.

“Once we migrated here in the States, our three sons, when they were young, you know, below five, their favorite toy was LEGOs. So I actually learned how to build with them.”

Pinlac said displays feature several Easter eggs, including references to Harry Potter.

Easton Shriner, a 9-year-old LEGO builder, said his favorite display includes a mixture of Spider-Man, Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters. Easton also enjoys robots.

“I’ve been building robots for a long time, and they’re very awesome,” Easton said. “Love them. You can play around, imagine, or whatever you want.”

Douma said tickets are still available for Sunday.
