CHICAGO — In a peculiar turn of events, Amazon recently retrieved a slew of packages mistakenly sent to a west suburban resident who claims she never ordered them.
Pat Hurley, a resident of Elgin, found herself bewildered as over 100 Amazon parcels mysteriously appeared at her doorstep.

The 79-year-old, who does not even possess an Amazon account, explained that due to her disability, the packages were too cumbersome for her to manage.
According to Hurley, these boxes, while bearing her address, were labeled with someone else’s name and began arriving last summer, quickly becoming an unwanted hassle.
Despite notifying Amazon about the mix-up, the deliveries persisted, sometimes reaching as many as 20 packages a day. The mounting parcels cluttered her entrance, leaving her feeling unsettled.
“If somebody’s going to show up… I’m disabled… Alone in the house. And all this is happening. I’m getting a little nervous. You know, I mean, you don’t know what’s going on in this world,” Hurley said.
An Amazon driver came by to get all of those packages from her home on Saturday afternoon. Hurley’s son sent ABC7 photos of the pickup. He and his mom are glad this is finally over.
Amazon told ABC7 that they apologized to Hurley for and they are investigating and working toward a long-term resolution to prevent this from happening again.
