The iconic Catherine O’Hara was posthumously celebrated by her industry colleagues at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards, with a poignant tribute.
The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress, who passed away at 71 in January 2026, earned the accolade for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series. Her co-star, Seth Rogen, took to the stage to honor her legacy with a moving speech.
“I have the somber privilege of accepting this award on behalf of Catherine,” Rogen began. “She would have been deeply touched to be recognized by her peers, whom she greatly admired and respected,” he continued.
Reflecting on their time together, Rogen expressed his admiration for O’Hara’s kindness and generosity, traits that never overshadowed her immense talent. “She was always eager to excel and uplift the entire production. I never told the other actors this, but before every shoot, she’d send me and Evan a rewritten version of her scenes. Without fail, these revisions enhanced not just her performance but the entire show,” he shared.
Rogen concluded by lauding O’Hara’s ability to blend genius with warmth, remarking, “She proved you can be exceptionally talented and kind-hearted, without one diminishing the other in any way.”
Before he wrapped, Rogen urged people to keep O’Hara’s legacy and memory alive by sharing her many performances with others.
“I guess I’ll just leave you with this: If you have people in your lives that don’t know her work, if they are kids in your lives, or just people who are out of touch or stupid or something, just show them O’Hara dancing to Harry Belafonte in Beetlejuice, show them O’Hara hurting her knee in Best in Show and doing that amazing thing where she hobbles around, and tell the people as they are laughing, ‘That’s Catherine O’Hara, and we were lucky that we got to live in a world where she’s so generously shared her talents with us.’”
Rogen’s speech brought numerous attendees to tears, including Rose Byrne, Keri Russell, and more. The Studio later won for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series, Rogen also won for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series. You can see the complete list of Actor Awards nominations here.
