On Monday, a significant disruption occurred at one of the globe’s largest oil refineries in Saudi Arabia when drones struck the site, leading to its temporary closure. The attack ignited a massive blaze, sending thick plumes of smoke spiraling into the sky.
Captivating yet alarming footage captured the intense fire engulfing the Aramco oil facility in Ras Tanura. The sight of dense black smoke was both a visual testament to the intensity of the event and a stark reminder of the vulnerability of vital energy infrastructure.

In a statement, the Saudi Defense Ministry assured the public that two drones targeting the facility were successfully intercepted and neutralized before they could cause more damage.
Remarkably, no injuries were reported as a result of the attack, a silver lining in what could have been a far more tragic incident.
Despite the temporary shutdown of some units within the refinery, supply chains remained stable. According to an unnamed Energy Ministry official, cited by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the supply of petroleum and its derivatives to local markets continued without interruption.
The plant — one of the largest in the world — produces approximately 550,000 barrels per day and is vital to the kingdom’s energy sector.

Retaliatory strikes by Iran have led to shutdowns at oil and gas facilities across the Middle East.
