KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — In March, News Channel 11 proudly recognizes a standout healthcare professional committed to nurturing the well-being of children.
Lisa Patton, a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and Clinical Immunization Specialist, has dedicated most of her career to pediatric care. With nearly four decades of service at Holston Medical Group, Patton has been a steadfast advocate for children’s health.
“My mother was a nurse, and she inspired me to enter the field,” Patton shared. “I’ve had a passion for it ever since. I began my journey in OBGYN right after high school, spending 20 years there before transitioning to pediatrics.”
In pediatrics, Patton finds joy in witnessing the growth of her young patients, who eventually return as adults with their own families.
“It’s incredibly fulfilling,” she expressed. “Watching them mature into adults is rewarding. In fact, I now work alongside three former patients here at HMG. Their decision to join the healthcare field was influenced by what we do here. It’s truly heartwarming. I’ve been invited to weddings and have seen them start their families. It’s been a remarkable journey to witness their lives unfold.”
Patton is also involved in making sure kids receive vital childhood vaccinations and that parents are informed.
“So I’m now over all the vaccines for the company and help try to advocate for the parents, for the vaccines and what they should be getting,” she said.
Patton knows her role is important and loves that she still gets to see her pediatric patients, who will always hold a place in her heart.
“It’s a very big responsibility,” she said. “But it’s a very rewarding responsibility as well.”
She said her patients can expect to see her in the office to care for another generation or two of children.
“I’m sticking through till retirement,” she said. “Because I love it so much”.
