On Monday, the U.S. military reported an incident where Kuwait accidentally downed three American F-15E Strike Eagles during a combat operation amidst an Iranian offensive on the nation.
According to the U.S. Central Command, the confrontation saw Iran deploying its aircraft alongside ballistic missiles and drones, marking a rare instance of the country’s outdated air fleet being utilized in warfare.
“The U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses,” it said. “All six aircrew ejected safely, have been safely recovered, and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation.”
