CHICAGO — The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced on Monday that Chicago is among the leading contenders to host the Democratic National Conventions in 2028 and 2032.
In a recent meeting, the Chicago Bid Committee engaged with the DNC team to address inquiries regarding the city’s proposal to host these significant political events.

“After the remarkable success of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Chicago is thrilled to be considered again for this prestigious opportunity. Our proven ability to safely and effectively manage large-scale events, coupled with our vibrant and diverse cultural scene, positions us as an ideal destination. We are ready to deliver a convention that mirrors the enthusiasm, success, and energy of 2024,” the Chicago Bid Committee stated.
Chicago previously played host to the convention in 2024, earning praise for its execution.
According to ABC7 Chicago, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have formed a working team to assess the potential for these future events. The official bids were submitted on January 9.
The Democratic National Committee asked the Chicago Host Committee to submit bids for both 2028 and 2032, but the latter convention is seen by some insiders as more feasible for the city.
Other cities that advanced include Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Philadelphia.
“The DNC is proud to be moving forward with our 2028 Democratic National Convention plans, another critical step toward retaking the White House and finally putting an end to Republicans’ betrayal of working families. We look forward to celebrating our future nominees on the national stage and highlighting Democrats’ commitment to building a better, safer, and more affordable future for our country,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement.
