The official confirmed that none of the Australians stationed at the base suffered any harm during the recent attacks.
“All Australians present at the location are safe and have been accounted for,” he stated this morning.
“No Australian personnel were injured,” he reiterated.
Al Minhad Air Base, situated approximately 24 kilometers from the heart of Dubai, has experienced multiple attacks since the conflict erupted on Saturday.
Several hotels and notable landmarks have been affected, while Dubai International Airport sustained some minor damage, causing flights at this crucial hub to be halted until today.
“Most of them are in the UAE where we’ve had an operational headquarters at Al Minhad for many, many years now,” Marles said.
The UAE is offering accommodation and meals to stranded Australians in the country, and Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed both countries were working to help Australians remain safe and return home.
“I express my deepest thanks to His Highness for the United Arab Emirates’ support for Australians,” she said.
“We appreciate the UAE’s generosity and we will continue to work with them and the region to ensure the safety and security of Australians.”
