Bruce Campbell recently shared an update regarding his health.
The acclaimed Evil Dead actor has revealed that he is battling a form of cancer that is “treatable” but not “curable.”
“I apologize if this comes as a surprise—it certainly was to me,” Bruce announced in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on March 2. “The positive aspect is that I won’t be delving into further specifics. I’m sharing this because, professionally, some adjustments are necessary—appearances, conventions, and work will have to take a backseat to prioritize my treatment.”
Describing his cancer experience as an “opportunity,” the 67-year-old actor expressed his intent to “focus on getting as healthy as possible over the summer.” This means he will be stepping back from several planned fan convention appearances.
“I’m deeply sorry for the inconvenience,” he added. “Unfortunately, treatment requirements and professional commitments don’t always align.”
Explaining that he was going public with his diagnosis not to “enlist sympathy” but to “get ahead of this information in case false information gets out,” Bruce assured fans to “fear not” over his condition.
“I am a tough old son-of-a-b—h and I have great support,” he added, “so I expect to be around a while.”
