CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Three high school girls’ basketball teams from the WCIA 3 viewing area clinched their spots in the state tournament following victories in the Super-Sectional round on Monday night.

In the Class 1A category, Mt. Pulaski emerged victorious against Edwards County with a final score of 48-38, thanks to a dominant 12-4 run in the fourth quarter. Alyson Murphy was the standout player for the Hilltoppers, scoring 22 points. They are set to face Brown County in the semifinals on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, in Class 2A, Pleasant Plains secured their place in the state semifinals by defeating Tri-Valley 54-37. The Cardinals will compete against Breese Central on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Breese Central advanced after a 46-33 victory over Teutopolis, earning their spot in the upcoming games in Normal.

In Class 3A, Glenwood claimed a decisive 62-35 win over MacArthur, setting up a showdown with River Forest-Trinity on Friday at 10 a.m.

All state semifinals, championships and third place games will be played at CEFCU Arena on the campus of Illinois State University.

1A and 2A semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, with 3A and 4A semifinals taking place on Friday and title games/third place games all slotted for Saturday, March 7.
