The Department of Defense revealed on Tuesday the names of four Army Reserve soldiers who tragically lost their lives while serving in support of Operation Epic Fury.
The fallen soldiers were identified as Capt. Cody A. Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, and Sgt. Declan J. Coady.
According to the agency, these soldiers perished in Kuwait due to an unmanned aircraft system attack orchestrated by Iran. All were part of the 103rd Sustainment Command.
The conflict, which has intensified as Operation Epic Fury proceeds, began following a weekend offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran. Although an official declaration of war has not been made, the hostilities have resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alongside senior officials and hundreds of civilians.
The agency says the four members died in Kuwait during an unmanned aircraft system attack by Iran. All soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command.
Operation Epic Fury began after the United States and Israel attacked Iran over the weekend. Though war hasn’t officially been declared, the strikes and subsequent retaliatory attacks have seen Iran’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed along with top officials and hundreds of civilians.
Trump has said the strikes were needed to prevent the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon that would be a threat to the American people.
The U.S. military currently has between 40,000 and 50,000 service members stationed across the Middle East.Â
