The individual accused of a deadly stabbing incident on the highway, which left one person dead and three others injured, previously earned academic accolades and pursued a career with the U.S. State Department.
According to Virginia State Police, 32-year-old Jared Llamado was responsible for the fatal stabbing of Michele Adams, 39, and for injuring Dana Bonnell, 36, Mary C. Flood, 37, and Heather Miller, 40. Authorities also reported that Llamado fatally stabbed his own dog. The violent episode unfolded on I-495 southbound in Fairfax County, roughly half an hour from Washington, D.C., at 1:17 p.m. on Sunday.
Investigators stated that the attacks seemed random, as none of the victims, aside from the dog, were passengers in Llamado’s vehicle. Confronted by a state trooper while wielding a knife, Llamado was shot in self-defense and later died in a hospital. The trooper involved was unharmed.
“A Virginia State Police trooper responded to a call at approximately 1:17 p.m. regarding a reported road rage incident. Upon arrival, the trooper faced a male suspect armed with a knife,” noted the Virginia State Police in their release. “In self-defense, the trooper shot the suspect. Jared Llamado, 32, of McLean, Va., was taken to the hospital with severe injuries and later died. The trooper remained uninjured.”

The U.S. Department of State confirmed Llamado was a foreign service officer with the agency.
“We are aware of the tragic incident that involved a Foreign Service Officer and occurred on Sunday, March 1, in Fairfax County, Virginia,” a State Department spokesperson said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.”
On Feb. 22, Llamado posted a picture with several friends on social media, appearing to be happy and upbeat.

According to dispatch audio obtained by Fox News Digital, the stabbing incident “started out as a property damage crash,” then the suspect began “stabbing people with a knife.”
The dispatch operator said that there were “multiple victims in the roadway.”
