Tragedy struck at an Alabama hospital on Sunday when a man entered the facility and fatally shot his wife, who had recently given birth to their child, in what authorities suspect to be a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, where 24-year-old Precious Johnson was a patient. Her husband, 19-year-old Kynath Terry Jr., allegedly shot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself, according to reports from WTVM. The coroner confirmed Terry’s death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In an interview with the news outlet, Terry’s mother revealed that the couple had been experiencing marital difficulties. She noted that Johnson preferred not to have Terry’s family present at the hospital during the birth. Despite these tensions, she expressed shock, stating there were no signs that the situation might escalate into violence.
In response to the shooting, the hospital was placed on lockdown for several hours. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported during the incident.
Hospital representatives have stated their commitment to fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation into this tragic event.
