Tayla Lee Brailey found herself in legal trouble when she was taken into custody last August at a south-west Sydney school. The charges against her included engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old during school hours, close to the premises where she was employed as a teacher.

At 32, Brailey also faced allegations of inappropriately touching a 16-year-old student and encouraging them to engage in sexual activities with her.

More than 18 months after she was charged, Brailey pleaded guilty in Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday to having sex with the 17-year-old student and sexually touching the younger student in separate incidents.

Due to legal restrictions, the identities of the minors involved cannot be disclosed, which also prevents the media from revealing the name of the educational institution where Brailey was employed.

In addition to these accusations, the former educator admitted guilt to charges of using a telecommunications service to access and send child exploitation material to herself.

Brailey pleaded guilty to the charges in court on Wednesday. (Nine)

While the prosecution decided to drop five other charges, including incitement of the 16-year-old to partake in sexual activities and aggravated sexual assault of a subordinate, the gravity of the situation remains significant.

Brailey will be sentenced in the NSW District Court on a date that will be decided when she returns to court later in March.

She remains on bail under strict conditions which prohibit her from entering any educational institution or being in the company of a child unless a carer is present.
