A woman has been formally charged with murder and child endangerment following the discovery of two young girls’ bodies in suitcases in a Cleveland field.

Authorities have refrained from disclosing the identity of the 28-year-old woman, though she was detained earlier on Wednesday for interrogation, according to WOIO. Reports indicate that Aliyah Henderson was subsequently booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail on Wednesday evening, facing the aforementioned charges.

Local residents informed the station that Henderson resided in the house where law enforcement executed a search warrant, leading to the questioning of an individual. This residence is situated close to the location where the bodies were discovered.

The tragic discovery occurred on Monday when a passerby’s dog detected something off the trail, as reported by CrimeOnline. The dog owner promptly contacted 911, which resulted in officers arriving at the scene. They uncovered the first suitcase and body, followed by the second nearby.

On Wednesday, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed through DNA testing that the two girls were half-sisters. Previously, investigators estimated their ages to be between 8 and 13, and 10 and 14 years old.

Investigators have not indicated they have identified the girls, but if an arrest has been made, that’s highly probable.
