(WHTM) — Ford Motor Company is taking action by recalling almost 850,000 vehicles from its Bronco and Edge lines.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that the recall affects specific models, including the 2021-2026 Ford Bronco and the 2021-2024 Ford Edge. The issue stems from the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), which has the potential to overheat and fail.
As a result, this can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended, which reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall includes 849,310 vehicles, and it’s estimated that all have the defect.
Moving forward, the APIM software will be updated by a dealer through a free over-the-air update. Letters notifying owners of the safety risks are expected to be mailed out on March 30, 2026.
The NHTDA says if you have any questions, you can contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332.
Ford’s number for this recall is 26S09.
