INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WCIA) – The Illinois women’s basketball team fell short of securing a third consecutive victory in Indianapolis on Friday.

Their journey in the conference tournament concluded with a 64-58 loss against Iowa.

Ranked ninth nationally and holding the second seed in the tournament, the Hawkeyes established dominance early. They quickly secured a double-digit lead in the first quarter and extended it to 14 points by halftime.

Despite narrowing the gap to single digits in the last minute after trailing by as much as 22, the Illini were unable to complete the comeback.

Junior Jasmine Brown-Hagger led Illinois with 22 points.

Illinois falls to 21-11 overall with the quarterfinal loss.

Now, Shauna Green’s group will rest up and wait for Selection Sunday on March 15.
