A 19-year-old man from Shorewood, Illinois, is facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting his mother and attempting to stab a police officer, according to local authorities.
The Shorewood police reported that officers were dispatched on Thursday afternoon in response to a 911 call regarding an ongoing domestic battery incident on the 200 block of South Ravinia Drive.

Upon their arrival, officers witnessed Ryan Dube of Shorewood physically assaulting his mother, pushing her to the ground, as stated by the police department.
Prior to this, he had allegedly slapped and punched her in the face and neck while inside their home, officials said.
Police added that Dube’s mother managed to escape through the front door, but Dube pursued her, brandishing a knife during the chase.

Officials said an officer tackled Dube, who swung a knife at the officer and tried to stab him.
Another officer was able to stop the attack, police said.
Dube was taken into custody.
The officer and Dube’s mother were evaluated by paramedics on the scene for injuries.
Dube has been charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery.
He was taken to Will County Jail, pending a pre-trial release hearing.
