John Tesh’s Inspiring Triumph: Overcoming a Decade-Long Battle with Rare Cancer

John Tesh considers his survival nothing short of miraculous. In a candid conversation with Page Six, the former “Entertainment Tonight” host revealed the daunting news he received back in 2015—he was diagnosed with an uncommon type of cancer.

“I was given 18 months to live,” Tesh recounted. “I’ve been fighting cancer successfully and continue to battle it. The treatment is ongoing, though it’s intermittent.”

Delving deeper, Tesh explained that he is dealing with a rare form of prostate cancer that has unfortunately metastasized. This reality means that while he may not achieve full remission, he remains in a stable condition, a situation he admits is quite unsettling.

The former TV personality explained that he has a “rare form of prostate cancer, which is metastatic now.”

That means Tesh is never really in remission but rather “stable, which, he admitted, is a frightening thought.”

“They will let it grow for a little bit,” he shared, “and then get me back on treatment, back and forth. It’s called pulsing, and it’s scary until you get used to it because it’s like, ‘Why am I living with cancer?’”

Naturally, Tesh credits his doctors at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for extending his life, but he also thanks his wife, Connie Sellecca, whom he’s been married to for 34 years.

“Without my wife Connie, who has been my advocate over the years, I wouldn’t be talking,” he revealed. “I’d be dead. I would have been dead in 2015.”

The co-host-turned-musician also credits his faith with keeping him alive.

“We discovered in 2015 several scriptures in the Bible which were related directly to healing,” he divulged. “One of them was Mark 11:23, which was incredibly powerful and I have it tattooed on my arm.”

Meanwhile, Tesh, who gave up TV hosting duties in 1996 to concentrate on music, is still busy performing and writing music.

He recently performed his now-iconic NBA on NBC basketball theme “Roundball Rock” at the All-Star Game.

Besides music, Tesh also hosts a radio show, “Intelligence for Your Life,” which is heard on 350 stations.
