Police Reveal Estranged Wife’s Role in Husband’s Death; Mother Claims She Was Overcome with Guilt

Initially considered a case of suicide, the death of a Texas man has taken a dramatic turn, with law enforcement now attributing his demise to his estranged wife. Authorities have identified Breyanai Moore, 31, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of her estranged husband, Lonnie Moore, 33, whose body was discovered last year with a gunshot wound.

In a recent development, Breyanai Moore was apprehended last Thursday. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, in a revealing Facebook update, disclosed that Lonnie Moore’s death, initially perceived as self-inflicted, was reclassified as a homicide after a careful re-evaluation of the evidence at the scene.

It took nine months for the authorities to pinpoint Breyanai Moore as the alleged perpetrator of the crime that occurred on June 15. Lonnie Moore’s lifeless body was found inside a running car on the roadside in New Caney, Texas, around 9 a.m. that day.

According to court records shared by local news outlet KTRK, police had questioned Breyanai Moore following this grim discovery. During these discussions, it emerged that the couple, who were separated for two years, had a 5-year-old daughter. Breyanai Moore reportedly told officers she had informed Lonnie that she was pursuing a divorce via text that morning.

However, a friend of Breyanai Moore provided a different account to police, revealing that she allegedly used a burner phone to coax Lonnie into picking her up. The friend claimed that upon his arrival, Breyanai allegedly got into the back seat and fatally shot him as he reached back for something.

Police said Breyanai Moore’s own mother identified her daughter on Flock cameras that allegedly showed Breyanai Moore in her estranged husband’s neighborhood the morning he was found dead. According to court documents, Breyanai Moore’s mother told police that her daughter seemed consumed by guilt after Lonnie Moore’s death, and that she had lost weight and cried often.

Breyanai Moore’s mother also reportedly told police that her daughter hated her estranged husband and wished harm on him.

Breyanai Moore was charged with murder and booked into the Montgomery County Jail, where she is being held without bond. Her next court date is scheduled for March 31.
