On Sunday, the NYPD communicated this request via social media platform X, urging residents to avoid the specified area because of the ongoing police presence.
Sources from within the NYPD indicate that the heightened police activity is linked to the investigation of two devices that were hurled during opposing protests outside Gracie Mansion.
This development comes on the heels of an announcement by New York City officials, which confirmed that a device thrown during the Saturday protests near Gracie Mansion was an improvised explosive device (IED). The device was reportedly capable of inflicting “serious injury or death.”
