The hosts of The View voiced their opinions on Monday regarding former President Donald Trump’s actions during a solemn ceremony for fallen U.S. soldiers. The event in question was a dignified transfer in Denver, where Trump was seen wearing a hat.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg began the discussion by introducing guest co-host Sheryl Underwood, before shifting the conversation to focus on the ongoing situation in Iran, where the U.S. military is engaged in strikes.

The panel soon turned their attention to Trump’s appearance at the dignified transfer ceremony on March 7. They highlighted what they considered a breach of decorum when Trump attended while wearing a hat, which many saw as disrespectful to the six U.S. soldiers being honored.

“I have to say, it really bothered me,” Goldberg expressed. “When those caskets came off that plane, take your damn hat off. Just take it off! I can’t believe no one advised him to remove it out of respect.”

Photographs from the ceremony show Trump wearing a white baseball cap emblazoned with “USA” in gold and the numbers “45-47” on its side, sparking criticism from the show’s hosts.

Sunny Hostin compared Trump’s behavior to that of former President Barack Obama, who she said “was the first president to preside over that dignified transfer.”

“He stood there for 45 minutes salute without a hat on, and with a suit on,” she explained. “And it was a very somber moment. It wasn’t about him, it was about the loss of our soldiers who gave their life for this country. What I saw when I saw that dignified transfer was it was all about Trump, and I thought that was despicable.”

According to CNN, the six soldiers were identified as Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens and Sgt. Declan Coady. Marzan.
