TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — A detainee at Trussville City Jail passed away shortly after being discovered unresponsive in her cell the previous week.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reported that Keandra Clasha Forbes was found unresponsive around 10:30 a.m. on March 2. The 35-year-old was immediately transported to UAB-St. Vincent’s East in Trussville, where she was declared deceased at 12:13 p.m. the same day.
Forbes’ passing was not disclosed until Monday, March 9, a full week after the incident.
The duration of Forbes’ stay at the Trussville City Jail and the charges she faced at the time remain unknown.
Jefferson County Coroner William Yates stated that an autopsy is set to be conducted to clarify the cause and manner of death. He noted that currently, there is no evidence indicating trauma or foul play in connection with her passing.
Forbes’ death is under investigation by the Trussville Police Department.
