Tommy DeCarlo, the renowned lead vocalist of the iconic rock band Boston, has passed away at the age of 60.

His children, Annie, Talia, and Tommy Jr., announced his death through a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday.

“With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our father, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026,” the message began.

“Following a diagnosis of brain cancer last September, he displayed remarkable strength and bravery until his final moments.”

“During this challenging time, we ask friends and fans to respect our family’s privacy as we mourn and support each other,” DeCarlo’s children added. “Rest in peace, Dad.”

Before DeCarlo’s death, his children set up a GoFundMe to cover the costs of his treatments. It has raised over $56,000 as of Monday afternoon.

The GoFundMe revealed that in September, DeCarlo suffered a brain bleed and underwent an emergency craniotomy, during which doctors found two melanoma masses on his brain and another spot on his lungs.

“The amazed us by recovering from the surgery and beginning treatment, but before he could complete it, he had another brain bleed and was hospitalized from November 27th to December 27th,” the page said.

DeCarlo completed acute inpatient therapy and was receiving treatments from his oncology team prior to his passing, per the GoFundMe.

DeCarlo joined Boston after its original lead singer, Brad Delp, died in 2007.

The group’s biggest hits include “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” “Don’t Look Back,” “Amanda” and “Rock & Roll Band.”
