GRANT PARISH, La. (WNTZ) – Two women from Texas face charges after allegedly using a drone to smuggle contraband, including drugs, cell phones, and tobacco, into a federal prison in Grant Parish. The items were reportedly hidden inside plastic crow decoys and intended for delivery to the prison grounds.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies observed the women flying a drone over the Federal Correctional Complex Pollock and dropping the decoy crows loaded with illicit materials.

Authorities believe these decoys were meant to infiltrate the secure perimeter of the prison facility, aiming to deliver the contraband directly into the hands of inmates.
During questioning, the women reportedly confessed to being offered $40,000 for their role in the smuggling operation.
One of the suspects, Melanie Jean Worthington, 38, of Joshua, Texas, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and introducing contraband into a penal institution.
Kassy Marie Cole, 41, of Hurst, Texas, was arrested on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, taking contraband into a penal institution and an outstanding warrant.
Authorities did not release additional details about the investigation or whether more arrests are expected.
