Daring Escape: Man Leaps from Roof During Meth Lab Bust

In Jonesborough, Tennessee, a man was taken into custody on Monday following a tip-off about a suspected methamphetamine lab. Deputies from the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to the scene on the 100 block of Tipton Road.

The individual arrested, identified as 35-year-old Jacob M. Stapleton, already had a warrant for failing to appear in Sullivan County, as revealed in a news release by the WCSO. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Stapleton on the rooftop of the residence.

In an attempt to evade capture, Stapleton allegedly leaped from the roof. However, deputies quickly apprehended him. Before being transported to the Washington County Detention Center, Stapleton underwent a medical evaluation by emergency services.

The investigation turned up a significant amount of methamphetamine, precisely 166.4 grams, which has been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for further analysis. Additionally, law enforcement officials gathered drug paraphernalia and remnants of the meth lab for safe disposal, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the release, investigators found 166.4 grams of methamphetamine, which was sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for analysis. The lab and drug paraphernalia were collected for disposal, the sheriff’s office stated.

Stapleton was charged with the following:

  • Maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping or selling controlled substances
  • Manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine
  • Initiation of process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine
  • Evading arrest
  • Resisting arrest

As of Monday afternoon, Stapleton is being held without bond.
