AUGUSTA, Ga () – One person is in custody after a shooting on Dominion Way in Richmond County.
Richmond County Deputies responded to Dominion Way at Kings Chapel Road, Saturday evening just before 10 p.m., in response to calls of shots fired in the area.
Deputies later found the victim in a black Nissan on Shartom Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was then transported to WellStar Medical Center for treatment. Investigators say the car was struck seven to eight times on the driver’s side.
Richmond County investigators tell us multiple homes in the area were hit by gunfire.
19-year-old Jante Edward Williams of Aiken, S.C. was later identified and arrested by investigators. He is charged with eleven counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
Williams is currently being held at the Webster Detention Center.
