Trump says Iran ‘welcome’ to compete in World Cup, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino claims
In December, Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize from Gianni Infantino.
Donald Trump has expressed that Iran is “welcome” to join the World Cup festivities in North America, according to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The ongoing conflict has cast uncertainty over Iran’s involvement in this summer’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Infantino revealed on Instagram that during a meeting focused on the tournament’s preparations, they also addressed the current situation in Iran.
“In our discussions, President Trump reaffirmed that the Iranian team is, indeed, invited to participate in the tournament held in the United States,” Infantino shared.
