In an effort to equip their members for the evolving landscape of agriculture, the Vermilion County Farm Bureau in Danville, Illinois, is set to host a workshop on hemp cultivation this Monday. This initiative comes in response to the increasing challenges faced by farmers due to the rising costs of fertilizers and equipment, coupled with the implications of ongoing tariffs, which have made traditional crops like corn and soybean significantly more expensive to produce.
With the impending changes in legislation that will render hemp products exceeding a specific THC content illegal from November onward, the bureau is pivoting to educate farmers on cultivating hemp for industrial purposes. This includes uses for grain and fiber, which promise to offer new opportunities within the agricultural sector.
