In a chilling case that has gripped Georgia, a young woman stands accused of the tragic deaths of her two young sons. The accused, 21-year-old Dakota Taylor, reportedly confessed to authorities that she suffocated both of her babies, casting a dark shadow over her young life.
The unfolding saga began in November 2025, when Taylor was taken into custody following allegations that she killed her 8-month-old son, Caleb, earlier in the year. This arrest came as she was already entangled in legal proceedings concerning the death of her 7-month-old son, Micah, who passed away in 2021. As the case against Taylor developed, a disturbing narrative emerged, detailing her troubled past and interactions with Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS).
Local reports from CBS affiliate WRDW have revealed that Taylor was previously embroiled in controversies involving her two daughters, whom she had during her teenage years. In 2020, as she resided in a group home with her daughters and was pregnant with Micah, alarming behavior was noted. WRDW reported that Taylor allegedly made disturbing threats both on Twitter and via text messages, expressing intentions to harm her daughters.
The situation escalated when Taylor reportedly brandished a knife at one of her daughters in a desperate attempt to prevent the children’s father from leaving. As a result, DFCS intervened, placing the children in foster care, where they were eventually adopted due to Taylor being deemed a threat and unfit to parent, according to those involved in the case.
The tragic timeline continued with Micah’s birth in early 2021. A mere seven months later, Taylor briefly fled the group home but returned only to face an unimaginable loss. Micah was discovered lifeless, slumped in a baby swing, his skin turning blue. Despite efforts by a group home employee to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Police responded to the group home. In body camera footage, officers described Taylor’s demeanor as “nonchalant” and unemotional.
In January 2025, her second son, Caleb, died after Taylor brought him to a family member’s house, police said. The family member reportedly said Caleb was covered by a blanket when he and his mother arrived, and “his hands were blue.” Caleb was unresponsive and taken to a hospital, where he later died.
WRDW reported that an inmate told a GBI agent that Taylor allegedly admitted to killing Caleb before bringing him to her relative’s house. The inmate reportedly said Taylor knew Caleb was dead when she drove him to the relative’s house.
According to WRDW, investigators spoke to Micah’s father in October 2023, two years after his son’s death. He reportedly told investigators that Taylor admitted to killing Micah, saying in a recorded interview, “She told me she cut the inside of my son’s nose and held a COVID mask over his face until he wasn’t breathing anymore.”
Taylor’s half-sister provided a similar account of what Taylor told her about Micah’s death, including that she pinched the baby’s nose closed and held her hand over his face “until he turned different colors until he wasn’t moving anymore.”
Taylor was charged with murder in two different counties in connection with both of her sons’ deaths. During a bond hearing in Jefferson County on Tuesday, Taylor was granted a $150,000 cash bond and a $300,000 property bond, which her family said she would not have the financial means to post. She was not granted bond in DeKalb County. Her next court appearance is April 7 in DeKalb County.
