On Wednesday, a pivotal prosecution witness provided testimony in the capital murder trial concerning the tragic death of Aniah Blanchard.

WSFA 12 reports that Ibraheem Yazeed is currently being tried in Tuskegee, Alabama, where he faces three counts of capital murder related to the 2019 death of 19-year-old Blanchard. Read more here.

During the trial, witness Antwon “Squirmy” Fisher recounted seeing the defendant on October 24, 2019, allegedly dragging an object into a wooded area located in Macon County.

The following month, Fisher directed law enforcement to a site along County Road 2, leading to the discovery of Blanchard’s remains scattered throughout the area, as reported by CBS 3.

Fisher testified that Yazeed arrived at his residence that evening in a black SUV, requesting a ride. At that time, Fisher was living with his family at the home of his former father-in-law, David “Big Dave” Johnson Jr.

Yazeed allegedly claimed that the SUV had run out of gas. The defendant, according to testimony, appeared dirty, wearing only a pair of shorts and socks.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, investigators said that the SUV belonged to Blanchard, who was last seen at an Auburn convenience store on October 23, 2019.

Surveillance footage showed Yazeed at the store at the same time as Blanchard. A witness at the store that night claimed he saw the defendant force Blanchard into her vehicle.

Johnson testified earlier this week that he handed Fisher the keys to his truck and told him to give the defendant a ride. Johnson said that before the pair left, he heard his tailgate close and noticed Yazeed on the side of the truck.

Fisher stated he had been on a mixture of marijuana, Percocet and Xanax, on October 24, 2019, while riding in Johnson’s pickup truck to get gas in a can.

The pair then went back to the SUV, where Yazeed put gas in the vehicle and drove it to an apartment complex located off of Atlanta Highway. Yazeed allegedly left the vehicle there before getting into Johnson’s truck.

Fisher stated that the cocktail of drugs made him feel intoxicated, prompting Yazeed to take over driving. Fisher stated that he passed out for a while, and when he woke up, they were on a dirt road near a cemetery.

The witness said he noticed that Yazeed had been dragging something wrapped up, with boots sticking out.

“I’ll make sure it doesn’t touch you or your family,” Yazeed reportedly told Fisher when he returned to the truck.

Yazeed then told Fisher that he had shot a “young lady” in the head during a tussle over a gun, according to testimony.

Fisher returned the truck the following afternoon after dropping the defendant off at a plasma center.

The trial continues. Check back for updates.
