The fourth season of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” raises the stakes with intensified drama surrounding the friendships, personal relationships, and professional choices of the #MomTok community.
The series features a dynamic cast including Taylor Frankie Paul, Whitney Leavitt, Jennifer Affleck, Layla Taylor, Miranda Hope, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, and Jessi Draper.
Reflecting on the past events, Jessi shared with On The Red Carpet, “There were so many moments where I thought, ‘Did that really just happen?’ It creates fantastic TV, but living through it felt incredibly surreal.”
Layla chimed in on the season’s nature, saying, “Every season feels chaotic, and this one’s no exception. This group certainly knows how to stir things up!”
This season unfolds with Taylor’s journey as she becomes the Bachelorette and the ensuing pandemonium before her departure to the Mansion. Meanwhile, Jen and Whitney face off on “Dancing With The Stars,” which tests their bond, and a boys’ getaway stirs trouble for #DadTok. The season also reveals whether Demi Engemann remains part of #MomTok.
“That was such a big season and so many huge things for, honestly, every single cast member that I think so many people are going to be on the edge of their seats being like ‘Oh I can’t wait to see what this person does next,’” said Whitney.
“What’s going to happen with Taylor? What’s gonna happen with Mikayla and her relationship and Whitney going to do ‘Chicago?’ Like all those things, I feel like even, I have those questions watching it even though we were living it and we kind of know what happens,” said Mayci. “As a viewer watching it I was like, oh…what friendships are going to continue to thrive? Which ones are going to maybe fall apart and never mend?”
Cameras are always rolling and the good, the bad and the ugly are featured on the show. It’s taken some getting used to for the ladies, but they hope what they show can help those who watch in some way.
“I think there’s like kind of a mix where I feel like with my health stuff and my marriage stuff and trauma, whatever, I’m very happy to share it because it is isolating and I like watching people and their stories and getting advice or hearing from them. And so I’m happy to do that,” Mikayla explained. “I think it’s obviously a work in progress and gonna continue to be a work in progress for awhile.”
At the root of #MomTok is friendship and Miranda explained that given all the drama of the season, that was more important than ever!
“It’s not my job to judge you, it’s my job to be there for you. That is my role as a friend and obviously like sometimes there comes a point where you have to set a boundary as friends in certain situations when it’s starting to take a toll on you,” she said. “I think we all open up about things that can maybe be considered taboo or, you know, things we know we might get chastised about or judged for. And I think as a friend, your job is to be there for your friend and be a safe space and have those open arms that they know that they can run to without that level of judgment.”
