A woman from California, initially charged with the murder of her newborn son last month, now faces additional charges related to the death of another infant in 2015.
Marisol Flores, aged 30, stands accused of the murder of a 25-day-old baby back in November 2015. This development follows the discovery of new evidence linked to the earlier case after her recent indictment for the death of her newborn son at an Oxnard homeless encampment in February, as reported by the Ventura County Star.
The lifeless newborn was discovered at the encampment on February 8. The following day, witnesses noted that Flores appeared neither pregnant nor accompanied by a baby.
An autopsy revealed the newborn suffered a fatal sharp force injury to the head, with the death being ruled a homicide.
While Ventura County prosecutors have yet to disclose the precise evidence that prompted them to charge Flores in connection with the 2015 incident, the revelations have intensified the scrutiny on her past actions.
Flores is charged with murder and assault on a child causing death. Her bail was set at $500,000.
