Shandi Sullivan’s journey on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 2 is often remembered for an infamous moment that earned her the moniker “The Girl Who Cheated.” During the March 16, 2004, episode, a night of partying in Milan led to Sullivan, who was in a relationship at the time, being filmed in bed with a male model. This incident unfolded dramatically in front of the cameras, creating a significant stir among viewers.

Reflecting on the events years later in the 2026 Netflix documentary series, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, Shandi opened up about that fateful night. She admitted that she was heavily intoxicated and had blacked out, expressing her belief that the producers should have stepped in to prevent things from escalating. “After getting out of the hot tub, I think they should have intervened,” Shandi remarked, suggesting that the situation had spiraled out of control.

The aftermath of the incident was equally dramatic. The following morning, an emotional Shandi was seen tearfully confessing her infidelity to her boyfriend over the phone. She also reached out to the model involved to inquire about his STD status, highlighting the gravity of the situation she found herself in.

When asked about Shandi’s story, Tyra Banks, the show’s host and executive producer, addressed the situation in Reality Check. “I do remember her story,” Tyra commented, though she noted the complexity of discussing production decisions, indicating that such matters were beyond her purview.

Asked about Shandi, Tyra Banks said in Reality Check, “I do remember her story. It’s a little difficult for me to talk about production because that’s not my territory.”

Executive producer Ken Mok said in the doc, “We treated Top Model as a documentary and we told the girls on day one, we’d go over the rules with them, there’s going to be cameras on you 24/7, day in and day out, and they’re going to cover everything, the good, the bad and the in-between.”

Added Tyra, “I’m not head of story, that’s Ken Mok. But I did become a master editor. It’s important for people to know that we didn’t put everything on TV.”

E! News reached out to Tyra and Ken for comment but did not hear back.
