Trump Claims Success in Strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island, Warns of Oil Infrastructure Retaliation if Tankers Obstructed

In a significant military operation, President Trump announced on Friday that U.S. forces carried out a highly impactful bombing raid on Iran’s Kharg Island, an essential hub for the country’s economy. Trump described the attack as having “obliterated” every military target on the island.

Despite the forceful action, President Trump noted that the U.S. chose not to destroy the island’s oil infrastructure. This decision was made out of “reasons of decency,” as Kharg Island is responsible for launching around 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports.

However, Trump issued a stern warning via Truth Social, stating that if Iran or any other entity attempts to disrupt the secure passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, he would “immediately reconsider” his decision to spare the oil facilities.

This military strike arrives amidst a backdrop of rising oil prices following the onset of conflict on February 28. In response, Iran has been targeting vessels navigating the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a crucial channel through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply is transported.

Adding to the tension, Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, made his initial public statement on Thursday. He declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed and vowed that Iran would continue its aggressive stance against U.S. allies in the Gulf region.

Trump said Friday that Iran has no ability to defend anything that Washington desires to attack.

“There is nothing they can do about it! Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the World,” the president said. “Iran’s Military, and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime, would be wise to lay down their arms, and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much!”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Friday morning that later today the U.S. military would unleash the “highest volume of strikes that America has put over the skies of Iran and Tehran.”

“The number of sorties and number of bomber pulses, the highest yet, ramping up and only up,” he said. “And quantity has a quality of its own as we continue to ramp up.”

The Pentagon chief said the U.S. and Israeli military have hit more than 15,000 targets inside Iran since the war broke out.

“That’s well over 1000 a day. No other combination of countries in the world can do that,” Hegseth said during a press briefing at the Pentagon.
