In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump claimed that the United States has outperformed Iran not only militarily and economically but in all aspects. He urged nations reliant on oil shipments via the Strait of Hormuz to assume responsibility for maintaining the passage.
“Nations around the globe that depend on oil from the Hormuz Strait must ensure its safety, and we are ready to assist — significantly!” Trump stated in his message.
He added, “The United States will work collaboratively with these countries to ensure operations are efficient, seamless, and successful. This should have always been a collective effort, and now it will be, fostering global unity, security, and lasting peace!”
The Hill has reached out to the current White House administration for their response to Trump’s remarks.
Trump’s assertion of the U.S. having “beaten” Iran follows his earlier statement suggesting that Iran is “totally defeated” and signaling their desire for a new deal, as mentioned in another post on the same platform.
The president told reporters on Friday he has his “own idea” of how long the U.S. operation in the Middle Eastern country would ultimately last.
“I mean, I have my own idea. But what good does it do?” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews when asked about the duration of the war. “It’ll be as long as it’s necessary.”
On Friday, Trump launched what he referred to as “one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island.”
The bombardment took place after Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said last week that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the conflict continues, triggering further fears of economic upheaval.
On Saturday, Trump announced that numerous countries will send ships to the Strait of Hormuz amid its closure.
“Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are.”
