In a move aimed at addressing the soaring gas prices following recent military actions in Iran, President Trump revealed on Friday that he is contemplating easing certain shipping regulations under the Jones Act. This century-old law mandates that only U.S.-flagged vessels transport goods between American ports.

During a conversation on his podcast, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade questioned Trump about the possibility of suspending the Jones Act. Trump responded by acknowledging the significant congressional backing for the Act, stating, “It’s a restrictive act, but it enjoys considerable support in Congress. We’re examining every option, and things will fall into place.”

Amid these discussions, the President has also directed the release of 172 million barrels from the strategic oil reserves to counterbalance the oil shortage. This decision underscores the urgency to stabilize energy supplies.
