(NEXSTAR) – Hollywood is gearing up for its most glamorous evening with the 98th Academy Awards taking center stage this Sunday, promising to spotlight some of the fiercest competitions in film.
This year, Conan O’Brien is back as the host of the Oscars, having taken over from Jimmy Kimmel in 2025. Kimmel previously hosted the prestigious event in both 2023 and 2024.
“Conan’s humor, his tone, and his deep appreciation for the art form make him the perfect host for this celebration,” said executive producer Katy Mullan. “He truly brings a sense of joy to the proceedings, and there are countless memorable moments he’s prepared for the night.”
The ceremony kicks off at 7 p.m. ET at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with ABC broadcasting the event live. For those preferring to stream, it’s available on Hulu. Coverage of the star-studded red carpet begins earlier at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer insists the award show itself will be no more than three-and-a-half hours in length.
While aiming to keep the broadcast tight, the Oscars will feature a new category on Sunday, recognizing casting directors with the award for Achievement in Casting.
The most competitive competition, however, may be in the Best Picture category. There are 10 titles vying for the Oscar, but early odds say it may come down to just two films: Paul Thomas Anderson’s epic “One Battle After Another” or Ryan Coogler’s historical horror drama “Sinners.” Millions of dollars have been wagered on films in this category, Kalshi data shows.
