In PARK CITY, Utah, Kouri Richins, an author known for her children’s book about coping with loss following her husband’s death in 2022, was found guilty of his murder on Monday.

The jury convicted the 35-year-old Kamas resident on all five charges: aggravated murder, attempted criminal homicide, two counts of fraudulent insurance claims, and forgery. This verdict concluded a trial that spanned several weeks, during which prosecutors argued Richins fatally poisoned her husband, Eric, with fentanyl.

As a result of the aggravated murder convictions, Kouri is facing a possible sentence of 25 years to life imprisonment. Additionally, she could receive 1 to 15 years for the insurance fraud charges and up to five years for forgery.

The sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, at 9:30 a.m.
