Before February began, many Americans were likely unfamiliar with Pima County, Arizona. Nestled along the state’s border with Mexico, Pima County is home to Tucson, Arizona’s second-largest city. However, in early February, the nation’s attention turned to this region, captivated by the story of one of its residents, Nancy Guthrie. Her tale has not only engrossed true crime enthusiasts but has also taken on unexpected political dimensions.

In case you haven’t followed the most talked-about human interest and true crime saga of 2026, journalist Sister Toldjah from RedState has extensively covered Nancy Guthrie’s story. Guthrie, an 84-year-old mother and grandmother, has been at the center of this national conversation since early February. Toldjah’s coverage began with an article on February 2, which piqued widespread interest (you can explore further stories here).

In her reports, Toldjah included details from a press conference held by Chris Nanos, the Sheriff of Pima County. He revealed unsettling information about Guthrie’s situation, stating that she was forced to leave her home involuntarily.

As Toldjah continues to delve into this gripping narrative, the broader implications and political undertones of Guthrie’s story remain under scrutiny, drawing in readers and raising questions nationwide.

Toldjah also shared some information from a press conference held by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, including the disturbing detail that Guthrie left her home against her will:

“She did not leave on her own. We know that,” he noted.

Toldjah continued:

Later in the day, however, Nanos revealed an even more chilling detail, saying that he believed that Mrs. Guthrie was kidnapped while she was asleep in her bed:

The disappearance is very disturbing to the community, Nanos told MS NOW — formerly known as MSNBC — on Monday, saying investigators believe she was removed from her house against her will.

“You have an 84 year old lady who is home in bed, asleep in the middle of night (and) disappears,” Nanos said. “That’s not Tucson and that’s not who we are here.”
