A reality television personality has been taken into custody in Bay County, Florida, accused of sexually assaulting a minor during a family trip to Panama City Beach.
Joseph Garrett Duggar, a 31-year-old cast member of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” faces charges of inappropriate behavior with a minor and molestation of a child under 12.
Reports from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office reveal that a 14-year-old girl provided details during a forensic interview, recounting several instances of abuse by Duggar in 2020, when she was just 9 years old.
Authorities indicate that the victim alleged Duggar frequently requested her to sit on his lap. These encounters purportedly escalated, with Duggar allegedly covering her with a blanket and inappropriately touching her.
The young girl reportedly mentioned that Duggar later apologized for his behavior, after which the incidents ceased.
Officials say the victim’s father confronted Duggar on Tuesday, where he admitted his actions to both the father and Tontitown Detectives.
Duggar was arrested, awaiting extradition to Bay County.
This is the second arrest in the Duggar family. Josh Duggar was found guilty of possessing child pornography in 2021.
