Reports indicate that at least 42 petrol stations have depleted their petrol supplies, while nearly twice as many are devoid of diesel.
In Baulkham Hills, the situation is particularly dire, with stations completely out of stock, leaving motorists unable to refuel and driving away empty-handed.
“I was hoping to find at least a little fuel,” a frustrated driver shared with 9News.
“It’s madness, everywhere you look there’s an ‘out of order’ sign,” commented another.
Many drivers are attributing the blame for this shortage to both local and international political figures.
“The orange man (is responsible), unfortunately, he’s got a lot to answer for,” a driver told 9News.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese warned panic buyers today, urging drivers to take no more fuel than they need.
“Every single ship that was due to land here has landed here.
“This has been an issue of increased demand.”
“Allows us more time to prepare for every eventuality if the conflict in the Persian Gulf continues,” Minns said.
The rising prices are causing Australians to look for alternatives, including public transport and even electric vehicles instead.
