Controversy Erupts: NYC Mayor’s Wife Allegedly Caught in Racism and Terrorism Scandal

Controversy has emerged surrounding New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, after old social media posts surfaced in which she allegedly used a racial slur and expressed support for Palestinian militants.

The 28-year-old Duwaji is accused of having shared this offensive material on Tumblr and X, platforms she reportedly engaged with from her late teens through her early twenties.

These posts were reportedly unearthed by the Washington Free Beacon, which claims to have utilized facial recognition software to verify Duwaji’s connection to the accounts.

This revelation follows closely on the heels of Duwaji’s recent criticism for endorsing posts that praised the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, including one post that dismissed allegations of sexual violence as a “mass rape hoax.”

It appears Duwaji’s history of posting contentious content dates back to 2013, when she allegedly used a derogatory racial term in a tweet to a friend at the age of 15.

The post reads: ‘Helllll yeah, n****. Super duper genius* excuse you.’

Other posts made from the account that year include blaming ‘white people’ for the creation of Al-Qaeda and claiming that Israelis should not be allowed to live in Tel Aviv.

In 2017, a Tumblr account linked to Duwaji by the Washington Free Beacon also reposted an image of plane hijacker Leila Khaled along with a quote of the infamous Palestinian.

A Tumblr account linked to Duwaji by the Washington Free Beach contained posts valorizing Leila Khaled, who is hailed by terrorists as the first woman to hijack a plane

‘If it does good for my cause, I’ll be happy to accept death,’ the caption read.

Khaled is hailed by terrorists as the first woman to hijack a plane after participating in plane takeovers in 1969 and 1970.

Duwaji’s account also appeared to praise other members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), of which Khaled was a longtime member.

The post came after she previously appeared to write on X that Tel Aviv ‘shouldn’t exist in the first place’, before adding that Israelis in the city were ‘occupiers.’

She also allegedly re-shared content which blamed the creation of Al-Qaeda on white people.

‘You can’t blame Muslims for terrorism because they didn’t construct, fund, or train Al-Qaeda,’ read the upload to Tumblr. ‘White people did that, too.’

The account even took aim at US troops, noting how they were not brave and were ‘mercilessly slaughtering third world civilians to maintain American hegemony.’

In 2015, she allegedly chose to celebrate International Women’s Day by posting a tribute to PFLP’s militant leader Shadia Abu Ghazaleh.

Ghazaleh participated in several attacks and died in 1968 when a bomb she was building exploded in her home.

The content appeared to have been deleted from the accounts when the Daily Mail conducted a search.

Mayor Mamdani was previously grilled about his wife’s social media presence and dodged questions about her liking a post in support of the October 7 attack.

The post made by leftist group The Slow Factory included images of groups of people after having taken over an IDF vehicle, with ‘Free Palestine’ scrawled over it.

Another image said: ‘Breaking the walls of apartheid and military occupation’, followed by the date.

The image showed a bulldozer used by the group to break through into Israel on that day, in which nearly 1,200 people died.

Mamdani said: ‘My wife is the love of my life, and she is also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall.’

But Duwaji is not as shy and retiring as her husband lets on, and recently posed for a cover feature in the prestigious The Cut magazine, an offshoot of New York magazine.

A spokesperson for the mayor told the Jewish Insider: ‘Mayor Mamdani has been clear and consistent: Hamas is a terrorist organization, October 7th was a horrific war crime, and he has condemned that violence unequivocally.’

Mamdani has also come under fire in the past after apparently using anti-Israel phrases, including ‘globalize the intifada’.

As the city’s first Muslim mayor, he has been seen with skepticism by some Jewish New Yorkers over his ardent support of the Palestinian cause.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Rama Duwaji and Mayor Mamdani for comment.
