Taylor Frankie Paul has spoken out about a troubling video that shows her in a physical altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, while her daughter was present. The footage has sparked significant controversy.
In an exclusive statement to Page Six on Thursday, a representative for the “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star expressed concern over the video, labeling it as incomplete and lacking crucial context. The spokesperson criticized Mortensen’s actions, describing them as part of a “never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor,” with little consideration for the impact on their daughter.
The timing of the video’s release was also condemned. The spokesperson highlighted that it coincided with their son Ever’s birthday, calling it “a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior.” Ever is just two years old, making the situation even more sensitive.
Additionally, the representative pointed out that the public is familiar with Mortensen’s tactics, suggesting that many viewers will recognize his pattern of manipulation, both from his behavior on the show and from similar experiences in their own lives. This familiarity, they hope, will shed light on the true nature of the situation.
“Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences.”
On Thursday, TMZ released a video of Mortensen recording Paul as the latter hit him and tossed chairs at him during a heated 2023 altercation.
In the clip, Mortensen repetitively told the TV personality that her now 8-year-old daughter, Indy, was in the room and on the couch.
Indy, who was 3 years old at the time, was heard crying in the background as Mortensen approached the little one, who was later allegedly “hit in the head with a metal chair.”
The TikToker continued to attack Mortensen, telling him, “You did this. You threw me.”
Paul later told responding officers that Mortensen threw her on the ground moments before he started recording her.
Also in the video, the reality star can be heard telling Mortensen to back away from her daughter.
At the time, Paul was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse and criminal mischief.
The influencer pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and struck a plea deal to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor in exchange for three years of probation.
The additional charges were dismissed.
The heartbreaking video was released after news broke that production for Season 5 of “SLOMW” had been paused due to a domestic violence investigation between Paul and Mortensen in February.
Law enforcement stated that allegations have been made by both parties.
Paul shared on Tuesday’s segment of “Good Morning America” that her future on the Hulu reality series was “hard to say.”
She’s also in the middle of her “Bachelorette” press tour, and her season is still scheduled to premiere on Sunday.
Mortensen and Paul have been involved in an on-again, off-again relationship since 2022, after the latter’s divorce from her ex-husband, Tate Paul.
The content creator and Tate share two kids, Indy and son Ocean, 5.
